Singapore - Water is very precious to Singapore. In the early days, all our water supply comes from Malaysia and with the threat of it being turned off by 2061. Singapore had to strategise and create 3 other taps - reservoir, Newater and Desalination to compliment Malaysia's water. When the 1961 Water Agreement (1st water agreement betwen Singapore and Malaysia) expired on 31 August 2011, Singapore handed the Johor State government the Gunong Pulai and Scudai waterworks as well as the pump houses at Pontian and Tebrau which we had been operating and maintaining at our own cost. These facilities were handed to them free of charge and in good working order. The second Water Agreement was signed in 1962 and will expire in 2061. I went on a guided tour that started @ 2.15pm - there were many school children and adults and the tour guide had a hard time controling the crowd.
