Le Panteur Restaurant @ Yangon

Yangon - We had to go to this acclaimed restaurant rated the number 2 in Yangon for its fine dining experience.   Le Panteur restaurant is house in an old colonial building facing the Inya Lake.   The setting is very beautiful.

Appetizer of foie gras

Hot and Freshly baked bread

Lobster salad
This dish was presented exquisitely with 3 slices of lobster meat topped with seasoning of various taste, water melon sorbet on thin jelly with beet room, grapes intricately displayed on the plate.  This dish was a work of art.

Beef cheeks stew
The beef cheeks was so tender that it melt in my mouth and it was very delicious.   The portion is sizeable around 200g of beef cheeks.

Lemon tart of biscuit crust
It was good but very expensive dinner.

Min Lan seafood restaurant - Rakhine cuisine

Yangon - Min Lan is a very traditional Rakhine food and lots of seafood on their menu.

Rakhine traditional noodle with spicy fish soup

Stir fried Chayote vegetables

Garlic fried squid

Mont Paung
It tasted like Putu Piring or Kueh Tutu in Singapore.   Singapore tasted much better with the smoother texture and creamier on the inside.

Golden Duck Restaurant @ Yangon

Yangon - My channel partner brought us to a popular Burmese Chinese restaurant specialising in roast duck.

Roast Duck
Spicy stir-fried Asparagus

Diced pork with green peppers

Stir-fried Chicken
The food is very home cooked style, delicious and simple.   The drawback is the that Golden Duck does not accept credit card payment, all cash only.

Jumbo Seafood

Singapore - After setting up the exhibition for CommunicAsia 2017, we went to East Coast Park to find a bicycle kiosk but it was closed.  The night was cool and windy and along a jetty there were anglers with many rods hoping to catch a big fish for dinner.

We are going to Jumbo for a delicious seafood dinner.

Dinner with Edward, Lesley and Donny

Black Pepper Crabs

Deep Fried Scallops with Yam

Geoduck Sashimi

Hong Kong noodles
I realised that there is no such noodle in Hong Kong called 'Hong Kong' noodle but this is a common Hong Kong style noodle eaten by Hong Kong people so it was adopted here as 'Hong Kong noodle'.  This Hong Kong style noodle is 'Soy Sauce Fried Noodle'  豉油王炒麵, literally ‘Soy Sauce King Chow Mein’.   The fresh cabbage, lime and shrimps just adds to the Singaporean taste.

Cycling along The Han River

Seoul - After our sumptuous dinner, we took a taxi to the banks of Han River just to enjoy the cool night and evening activities.   Kiwon paid for the bicycles for us to have a nice night ride along the Han River and it was a good evening fun.

YoungJin on his bike
As it was a sudden decision to have a night ride, we were not prepared and much so YoungJin in his suit.   Fortunately for him, the weather was a cool 15 degrees.   He did not shed a 'sweat' on his ride along the river bank.

Bulgogi with Kevin Chae

Seoul - After our meeting, we adjourned to find some good Korean food.  Korean Bulgogi is the best...

Bulgogi
This is Bulgogi Korean style and the blur image is the waitress helping to cut the beef with a pair of scissors.

Kimchi Beef Rib Soup
This is my first time trying this Korean dish and I love it.  The beef ribs is so tender and the soup is not so spicy even though it looks so red and fiery.

The Beef ribs being diced
The waitress cut the huge chuck of beef ribs into bite pieces.

Filipino Night Market

Kota Kinabalu - There is always a buzz around markets and this Filipino Night market is no different.   There are lots of fresh catch of the day and stall holders can BBQ for you, many stalls selling dried food and sea food like dried  anchovies and scrimps.  Vegetable and Fruit stalls and also rows of souvenir vendors.

I Love KK landmark

Honey Chicken Wings @ Kedah Kopi Fatt Kee

Kota Kinabalu - This shop is famous for the honey chicken wings and it was crowded.   We had to stand waiting an available table.

Sabah Veggie
This vegetable is exotic to Sabah and it is a must try as it gets sold out very fast.   Locals also call this vegetable Sayur Manis (Sweet Vegetable).  This vegetable contains a lot of oxalic acids so those with kidney stones and gout should go easy on that next plate of sayur manis.

Sabah Hokkien Mee

Sabah Bak Kut Teh

Kota Kinabalu - Just across Jesselton Hotel, the Bak Kut Teh store is always packed with patrons and we really have to this Sabah Bak Kut Teh.

Bak Kut Teh
This Sabah Bak Kut Teh is similar to KL but milder in their herbal essence taste.  The pork could be boiled longer so that the meat will be more tender and slide off easily from the bone.

More and more pork dishes
Dishes clockwise Pork Stomach soup, Pork Intestine Soup and Pork Belly Soup.

Zero KM Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu -  Since the Post office is where letters are received, the zero KM marks the place where distances  This the pre-war old post office building was built 95 years ago during the British occupation and was one of the buildings that was not destroyed during the Second World War. It was officially opened on March 16, 1918.

It underwent major restoration in 1989 and two years later, it was officially re-opened and housed the then Sabah Tourism Promotion Corporation (STPC) now STB office.

The plaque was designed to be uniquely Sabah with the illustration of Mount Kinabalu on top and the city’s official flower, the Borneo Orchid.
