Singapore - It was a short drive from St Andrew's Cathedral to reach Marina Barrage - and soon I am greeted in a sky full of beautiful kites. So lovely of different colours.
The Marina Barrage is a dam built across the mouth of the Marina channel and this creates Singapore 15th reservoir and the first in the heart of the city. This reservoir has a catchment area of 10,000 hectares.
I went to the Sustainable Singapore Gallery on the 2nd floor of the Marina Barrage.
Marina Barrage is the vision of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew (the first Prime Minister of Singapore) more than two decades ago when he envisaged damming the mouth of the Marina Channel to create a freshwater reservoir.
Back in the old days when I visited my Grandfather's house, the toilets were fitted with soil buckets. These buckets were collected nightly and replaced with an empty one, hence the term “night soil”.
