Cologne - The Eigelstein gate tower dates back to the 12th century land is one of three medieval gates that remain from Cologne’s fortifications. It was the north-western tower of the Roman fortifications. This was during the time Cologne was surrounded by walls.
In 1873, the gate was owned by the City of Cologne but has been in private ownership since 1983.
