Rolling Daruma Cafe

Kuala Lumpur - after our dinner, desert was this cafe that served a unigue blend of waffles.

signboard
I took this pic of their signboard whilst walking up the stairs to their cafe.  It was such a cold relief as our seafood dinner was outdoors and warm.   The air-conditioning was at the right temperature and well circulated - you want to stay here for a long time.

Hot Peach Sencha

Waffle
Four of us digged into this small bowl of ice-cream waffle and it really tasted good.

Just Seafood restaurant

Kuala Lumpur - After work and back to Vigilnet office - I was given 3 choices for tonights dinner and seafood it was....as the name implies it was Just Seafood on the menu.

seafood on the table
One of my unique experiences - eating seafood off the table.   The waitress will come-by and tapped down the table with white water-proof paper and the cooked seafood that was ordered will be poured onto the table.  No forks or spoons were serve - use only your hands. Using the plastic gloves provided you eat the seafood without dirting your hands.

Taking photos of the dishes was a bit of a hassle - pull out the gloves and whipped out my iphone and then put back the gloves back and continue eating until the next dish..

The style of cooking was cajun or salted egg and I chose salted egg and it was really delicious.  The dish includes - prawns, mud crabs, venus clams, mussels, potatoes and carrots.

Cockles (Si Hum)
It has been a long time since I ate si hum - and it was refreshing delicious; and dipped into blacan.    Nice dinner - thanks..

Kedai Kopi Hock Seng Hin

Kuala Lumpur - Edward and Donny brought me to this old Kedai Kopi (means Coffee shop) which is famous for their braised fish head.   We were fortunate to find seating for us as it gets very crowded around lunch time.

The famous braised fish head dish

This coffee shop is famous for their steamed fish with spicy bean sauce.   They are generous with their white rice a rice bucket is placed next to your table to help yourself.   Putting scoups of the bean sauce onto your rice is really delicious.   The fish is fresh but becareful of the numerous fish bones.

Bitter Gourd with 3-layer pork

Spicy pig innards
The intestines are quite tough and not marinated through enough, so it was not tasty.

Stir fried Kailan with prawns

A nice 'home cooked' meal - simple and delicious.    The coffee shop decor may put-off some customers as the kitchen is in a mess and quite dirty.

Say Cheese Cafe

Kuala Lumpur - Dinner was at this 'cheesy' cafe - all things filled with cheese.

Smoke duck
The deicious dish with the duck tender and flavourful; sitting on melted cheese.

Olio Mushroom pasta
Nicely tossed spaghetti with grilled mushrooms - the spaghetti was cooked firm and sprinkled with cheese.

Brushetta

Brushetta after being sprinked with Parmesan cheese

If you love cheese, this is the best place to go - all the dishes are sprinkled with cheese.

BBQ pork chop
The highlight of the meal when the waiter brought out the pork chop and flame char-cooked the pork chop in front of us - about 15 minutes later a yummy looking pork chop.   The came the lava cheese poured over the pork.

A delightful Pork Chop with cheese lava

NEWater Visitor centre

Singapore - Water is very precious to Singapore.   In the early days, all our water supply comes from Malaysia and with the threat of it being turned off by 2061.   Singapore had to strategise and create 3 other taps - reservoir, Newater and Desalination to compliment Malaysia's water.

When the 1961 Water Agreement (1st water agreement betwen Singapore and Malaysia) expired on 31 August 2011, Singapore handed the Johor State government the Gunong Pulai and Scudai waterworks as well as the pump houses at Pontian and Tebrau which we had been operating and maintaining at our own cost.  These facilities were handed to them free of charge and in good working order.

The second Water Agreement was signed in 1962 and will expire in 2061.

I went on a guided tour that started @ 2.15pm - there were many school children and adults and the tour guide had a hard time controling the crowd.   She had to move the crowd in an orderly manner from one station to the next.   It was interesting to see first hand how Singapore treat sewage water into portable water.

Today, there are five NEWater plants supplying up to 40% of Singapore's current water needs. By 2060, NEWater is expected to meet up to 55% of Singapore’s future water demand.

What's NEWater?  NEWater is the brand name given to reclaimed water produced by Singapore's Public Utilities Board. More specifically, it is treated wastewater (sewage) that has been purified using dual-membrane (via microfiltration and reverse osmosis) and ultraviolet technologies, in addition to conventional water treatment processes. The water is potable and is consumed by humans, but is mostly used by industries requiring high purity water.

If you do visit the NEWater visitor centre - go on a conducted tour - it was very educational.

Singapore Maritime Gallery

Singapore - Today,  I went to Singapore Maritime Gallary which is located along Marina Coastal Drive, above the Marina South Pier.

This Martime Gallery showcase Singapore transformation from a small trading port into one of leading Global hub port.

Ship handling Simulator
I was the only person playing this simulator and it was quite fun - all the controls and numerous screens for you to monitor.  There is a thrust and navigation wheel to guide the ship into port.

Marina South Pier
Marina South Pier
Marina South Pier is primarily used by small passenger launches and ferries for the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers, which include ships’ crew, agents and service providers boarding ships anchored in the Eastern Anchorages.

It is also used by sightseers going on harbour cruises or travelling to Singapore’s southern islands, as well as pilgrims travelling to Kusu Island during the annual one-month long Kusu Pilgrimage Season.

Kuala Lumpur - I went to Ishin Japanese Dinning - one of Kuala Lumpur Top 10 Japnese restaurant that serves the freshest seafood in town.   Located at Old Klang Road.

Ishin Japanese Dining
Edward, Donny and me
It was good to see Edward and Donny, and enjoyed a great Japanese meal.

Beef
Very tender beef marinated with rich Japanese sauce and topped with generous amount of spring onions.

Freshest seafood in town
Tofu salad
The tofu simply melts in my mouth mixed with fresh salad, it was simply delicious.

The stinky Natto
To many, it smells rotten and the taste can be overpowering but I like the smell and the taste of fermented soya beans.

Ishin signature dish - Malaysia sushi
This sushi has mango on top and within is unagi (eel) - so have the sweetness of the mango mixed with nice meaty texture of the eel.

Baked Oyster with cheese

Fried Saba fish

Salmon sashimi
After this dish, I was so full and satisfied with this delicious meal...yummy
