Back to Hanoi Old Quarter

Hanoi - I have not flew on Singapore Airlines since the Covid pandemic started and this is my first flight on SQ since Singapore opened up.  In 2 years, Covid has changed travel in so many ways:-

1.   Mask on at all times except during meals

2.   There are no more magazines at the racks, everything is now downloadable

3.   There are also no more Kris magazine, you can download the e-version if you are interested

4.   Food are served like budget airlines

Breakfast on SQ

The egg omelette and sausage did not taste good. - airlines are cutting cost.

It was raining when we landed in Hanoi, the immigration and baggage collection was smooth - booth a grab and we are on our way to Sheraton Hanoi.

Took a Grab taxi to Hanoi old quarter near the Lake and just walked around to find lunch.

We walked to find Banh Mi - Banh Mi is a short baguette with thin, crisp crust and soft, airy texture. It is often split lengthwise and filled with savory ingredients like a sandwich and served as a meal.

Banh Mi

As we wanted to taste and walk - we bought one Banh Mi and ask the stall holder to cut into 3 for us.

My share of the Banh Mi

Each with a small share of the Banh Mi

We had our lunch at Met restaurant @ 42 Luong Van Can - friendly waiters and we tried Banana wine for the first time.

Banana wine

The Banana wine tasted smooth and sweet - a good choice by Edmund.

Vietnamese pancakes

Banh Xeo - It has a crispy crepe-like layer made of a mix of turmeric powder and rice flour, stuffed with various ingredients, but most common are veggies, mung beans and meat, sometimes seafood or pork.
