Kuching - Just a short distance was Gula Apong ice cream store.
What is Gula Apong? Gula apong is produced from the sap of Nipa Palm tree that is extracted by making a cut on the flower bud of the tree. The collected sap will be boiled and stirred for six to eight hours to allow the liquid to evaporate, leaving behind a thick caramel. In Singapore, we call this Attap Chee.
Gula Melaka is made from the Coconut Palm tree.

From this cone ice cream, you add the gula apong on the ice cream and the taste is extremely sweet. It has a taste of gula malacca but this is from a different fruit.
